Katie Potter and Lauren Cody have two things in common: they are successful businesswomen, and they also know what it’s like to care for an aging adult.

The duo met during their time as executives in the senior living industry. What they learned was that it can be incredibly difficult for family members to find the right care solution(s) for their loved ones. The search process can feel disorganized and fragmented. So, they wanted to help find a way to simplify things, with a more transparent way to navigate the process. It was also important to them to provide much-needed support resources to the caregiver.

Cody shared, “There are a lot of opinions to manage from doctors, nurses and hospital care staff, therapists, family members, friends, etc.  However, there's no simple 1, 2, 3 step process to find the right combination of support pieces required for older adults in most situations. It's easy to get lost in dead end conversations with vendors that are trying to take your money, but that doesn't solve your needs. Adult children caregivers are very busy people. They are often at the height of their careers and may also be at the height of their own parenting responsibilities. They have other responsibilities too.”

Potter shared that the idea for the company had been brewing for some time.

“It really started when my mom was caring for my grandmother – there were times she was simply overwhelmed about how to care for her – how to know she was in the right place, how to communicate with the myriad of providers, etc.  I always thought there had to be a better way. There needed to be a simple solution where caregivers could find the resources they needed, that was easy to use and provided a community of support.”

So, in January of 2023, Cody and Potter began brainstorming. It wasn’t long before they had a company name established and a team of people to help them get their idea off the ground.

Mosaic Solutions was officially born.

Today, Mosaic Solutions is working to provide actionable, tailored care solutions for caregivers, while building a community that allows them to feel supported. With this resource, caregivers can focus on making the most of the time they have with their loved one.

“We are solely focused on the caregiver, making sure they have the support, resources and shortcuts to finding the right care solutions when they need them, and to help them learn more about diagnoses so they can make informed decisions alongside doctors and other medical staff,” Cody said. “Finding the right elder care is not easy, it's never just one thing. It requires several pieces to come together – from choosing the right caregiving environment and matching your loved one with a compatible caregiver to options for transportation, medication management, and much more.  All of these pieces form a holistic solution – kind of like a mosaic where individual-colored tiles create a holistic picture.”
